PJ’s is located at 5100 E. 2nd St, Long Beach. Street parking is available around this location, and food and drink are available for purchase. Believe it or not, I have only been there once but the cuisine and drink were very impressive. It’ll be our last get-together before the Long Beach Grand Prix, so I hope many of you come to join the party!

The City has rescheduled the Mardi Gras event and Parade at Shoreline Village until March 18 due to the inclement weather and in the interests of the performers, participants, and guests. They will now combine the Mardi Gras and St. Patrick’s Day celebrations into a “Shamrockin’ Mardi Gras”. Stay tuned for more details as we still hope to march in the parade.
This year’s Kick-off Meeting follows a very different philosophy. We will limit invited guests to those who are interested in learning more about becoming a Member (Governor) of the Committee of 300. This is not a party, but a positive event to attract like-minded people who would like to take advantage of the fantastic opportunity we provide. Please bring all family members, business associates, friends, and acquaintances who want to get involved with the Grand Prix.
Hi RedCoats & Friends! This month we are going to one of the most well-known, the granddaddy of sports bars, Legends! Let’s meet at 6 pm on Tuesday, January 24th. Legends is located at 5236 E Second St, Long Beach. Many of you have been there already so you know that the food and drinks are really good. The parking is first come street parking, so leave yourself some time to find a spot. The place is plastered with bigger-than-life screen TVs so check your local listings for events on that night. It’s going to be a real fun time, so come on down and join us! See you there!
The Committee of 300 held our Christmas Party at the Long Beach Yacht Club on December 30. Members and their guests enjoyed an excellent buffet dinner of chicken, salmon and roast beef along with all of the trimmings. After dinner, President Derek Brown delivered a few remarks and thanked and introduced the Board Members. Grand Prix Association of Long Beach President and CEO Jim Michaelian also delivered some remarks and thanked the Committee. Then Derek and company handed out a couple of tables’ worth of raffle prizes. Larry Bustmante and his band provided the music for dancing and listening. This was a first-class event befitting our first-class dinner attire. See how much fun we had in the gallery below.

Lions Automobilia Foundation – Museum Self-Guided Tour – The experience begins as visitors walk in thru a 1960’s speed shop with genuine parts hanging off the walls and then enter the Main Street Gallery lined with classics automobiles parked in front of a 1950’s diner. The visitor experience has been described as mind-blowing, as each gallery reveals the human experience with the automobile. Lions is more than just a museum. The Lions Automobilia Foundation takes persevering automotive history to the next level with its onsite restoration facility. As visitors walk through the galleries, they will find that many of the vehicles on display were restored by the Lions Team. This event is sponsored by the Lions Automobilia Foundation and the LA County Sheriff – Lakewood Station.
A few Redcoats managed to locate each other among the 100+ entries for the Belmont Shore Christmas parade. We accompanied an Acura Grand Prix pace car up and down 2nd Street in front of 40,000 spectators lining both sides of the street AND the median. Afterward, we located our cars and gathered at The Belmont Brewing Company for hospitality.
A few intrepid Redcoats braved the drizzle to march beside a pace car for the Acura Grand Prix. Seal Beach was short on parade but long on conviviality.
We had a great team volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House “A Few Good Men Gala” in October. They helped with the Silent Auction and assisted with the SUV Opportunity Drawing.
